Bear in mind that it's not just the motion sensor you have to worry about. The anti-tow stuff will be triggered if the alarm is on, but the vehicle moving. Not sure how your dog will react to that.
When travelling to Orkney on the ferry, I just sit in the cold with the dogs on my lap, but as I suffer badly from seasick, I'd be sitting outside anyway.

It does have tilt/nudge alarm doesn't it? I know my 2015's alarm goes off on a ferry if I don't lock with just the key.

There is an inertia switch built into the central locking version of the AS10 unit, something I didn't know until this thread came up on the forum, see in particular Fifth Horseman's post about 9 down from the start.

As far as i am aware inertia switch is only built in to AS10 2007 to 2011 as its not hard wired into engine loom
my 2006 with central locking version of the AS10 unit has no inertia switch and pos 2011 inertia switch are hard wired into engine loom again

Correct, the AS10 inertia switch is as far as I know only present on central locking vehicles which have a mechanical fuel pump and no electric pump, which is the 2.4 TDCi.

The TD5 and 2,2TDCi with electric pumps have to have an external inertia switch since the AS10 cannot turn off the fuel pump (which is I believe a legal and type approval requirement).

I don't know if those with an external inertia switch and central locking also have the handy "bump the vehicle to unlock it" theft feature, but I imagine that they do.

I think I may have made a little bit of a boob. I had the drivers lock removed as a minimal theft deterrent, but hadn't thought about locking on a ferry/when using a roof tent. Can I just manually lock via the rear door? Confused James

I think you're referring to the crash sensing inertia switch, TD5 & 2.2TDCi have these as they have electric low pressure fuel pump, 2.4TDCi does not have said pump so also does not have the fuel cutoff inertia switch.
This is bolted to the top of the bulkhead behind the engine & wires into the engine management.

The 10AS has it's own internal inertia switch for releasing the locks in event of impact.
