So the 2.2 bas map by third party wasn't great until bas them selves redid it? Cheers

The remap was BAS but installed by a third party at the same time as the intercooler, hoses and filter were upgraded.

I was never quite happy with it (it didn’t seem as punchy as my old 2.4 - map only after 165k miles). I still had the RRC dongle from the original 2.4 map so Pete to transferred a new map file for the 2.2 onto it, recovered the ecu back to standard, then remapped.

I can’t say what wasn’t right with the original but the re-remap in combination with the new intercooler is tremendous.

Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Ian

Hi Very Happy
As i’m not shure about a remaping on my 2015 Td4 2.2 Defender, what are your thoughts about just fitting a new ic?
And the other question Bas or Allisport?

Best Regards
Charles

I've had the BAS remap (only) on my old 2.4 (165k miles with no service history until I owned it) and it transformed it.

I likewise have the BAS remap on my 2.2 (plus uprated intercooler, silicon hoses and K&N filter). Even better (but a good deal more expensive). If I was do the project in stages, I would go for the remap first and intercooler second (others may disagree). Instant bang for your ££ plus all the extra diagnostic info.

On my old 300Tdi, a remap wasn't an option so I went intercooler, exhaust and changed the fuelling. But that isn't comparing apples with apples in terms of the TDCi engine......lovely drive. Its still the van I regret selling the most....

As for BAS vs others, I've only used BAS and I'm a repeat customer. I think the product and service is great. Ian

Hmm .. I did remap first and then intercooler. Either I just drove too hard or because of the standard intercooler I let the exhaust temps get too high and ended up warping the face of the manifold and the manifold to turbo gasket started leaking. Having been through a few gaskets I ended up having to get it skimmed flat again.

On the positive side, I’m now very good at removing the turbo and refitting Rolling Eyes

I know this turbo / manifold issue is well documented and blamed on over heating but it raises two questions;
- is this largely / soley on modified defenders,

- with the modern ecu and limp mode etc I'm rather surprised the software doesn't prevent this from happening?

Question
