If only I could......at some point before I acquired the vehicle, the ignition was replaces, I only have keys that fit the ignition...... 2008 TDCi 2.4 XS CSW

Unplug the wire from the internal sensor if you can't lock with the key.
Some people say that simply putting some insulating tape over the sensor itself works, but I haven't tried this. |

Yes, just one sensor. It's held in place with a spring clip and so just pulls out of its' mounting point. Darren

The advantage of taping over the sensor as opposed to using the key to lock the vehicle is that you still retain perimeter protection on the bonnet and doors. Defender 90XS SW

On most cars if you have central locking, then locking with the key still arms the alarm without arming the volumetric sensor. However I don't thing this is the case with the Defender. |

If you're going via the Tunnel there's no real need to lock the car, its not as anyone can escape. |
