Here's a story....
The owner of that fizzie filled garage came into a (push) bike shop I ran and he and his friend bought a couple of bikes. The mechanic dealt with them and looked after them, he sold them numerous bits of kit and more bikes as they got into their cycling in a pretty enthusiastic way. This mechanic lived in a rented council flat at the time, got a crappy Escort estate and earned way less than £20k a year, and the 2 guys asked him if he'd like to go to a bike show in Italy. He politely turned it down as he probably couldn't afford the air fair, let alone attend a show and hotels n stuff. They decided to treat him and said they'll pay for everything as he'd looked after them.. It turned out that it wasn't just a bike show.... It was first class to Italy... Milan bike show Out for dinner with the Colnago family, as well as a visit to their factory. Then on to their real passion, Ferrari Off to Maranello to the end of season F1 party with the great M Scumacher, off to the track in the FXX cars They then went out for dinner with Piero Ferrari They went to the factory where they make the leather fitted luggage Out partying most nights. He didn't spend a bean. So, behind the garage full of toys is a real cool guy. As for my mechanic, after he got back and ascended his cold concrete steps to his council flat, he was a bit depressed for a week, knowing he just lived the complete wealthy lifestyle for a week and may never taste it again. But my word, he was grateful. |

Click image to enlarge My new workshop, just waiting for a few finishing touches. Big enough for the 110 including roof rack, but didn't really have the plot to make it any larger. Nice little parking bay to the left for my Penman trailer too. |

I'd forgotten that photo That's one amazing garage! Henry's Car Barn is a favourite of mine... Click image to enlarge Pretty much my perfect garage right here... I used to dream of my perfect garage and I have to admit it's always been pretty much the same, just one of each LR model (before they brought in all the in-between ones)... Range Rover, Discovery, 110, 90, Series... etc. I've always wondered if anyone actually has this garage? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Not the usual OZ sized shed but this is probably as good as it gets being close to the CBD. Takes up to 4 cars but we had to be very creative to fit the hoist within Councils limits.m |
