Running hot?
Got a 200tdi Discovery in my Land Rover, making my way back from the lakes, the temperature sat at 90 however after 2 hrs crept up to 95 degrees. At what temperature should I get worried . 1990 200tdi conversion 90

Seems absolutely fine to me on a warm day on a run, especially motorway. JB

Have you got the correct sender unit and gauge,? i.e. if it was a n/a I think there are are problems matching up the readings!

I have the same concern with my 1993 Defender 110 200 Tdi. Really hot day on the motorway with the Air con my temp gauge will get really close to the far right edge of the white arc.

What's are the first three items you all would do to try and get the temps lower?

1. Larger intercooler?
2. Replace the cheap parts like temp sender, thermostat, silicon hoses, radiator flush
3. Other ideas?????? 1995 Disco V8

If its in the white bit its OK - nominal, within parameters. So in the confidence that it had a healthy, flushed cooling system with a fully-opening thermostat I'd be happy.

I would add that modern temp gauges mislead drivers by reading in the middle across a range of actual temperatures. Between approx 85 and 110 degrees they will read dead middle - and only rise or fall outside of those temps. Very different from the analogue scale you see on an old school landy. JB

Depends how old the coolant is but change it. I’ve always found ore mixes to be more efficient. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Also check the plastic bung/cap on the rad, mine was tight but had been over tighten by previous owner and split stopping the system from pressurizing correctly and used to cause it to run hot when towing up hill or on a hot day. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW
