DEFENDERS BY THE POND. Finchingfield Essex. Sunday 23rd Sept

Following on from Legin's Essex thread, it seems a few people from the forum would like to meet up, as there is nothing for Def2 members in the Southern East Anglia area.

The suggestion is:

Meet up in Finchingfield at a time to be arranged - possibly lunchtime (several pubs/tea rooms available) then some would like to do a bit of light, hopefully non-scratchy green-laning.

Maybe a pre-scout trip to test the suitability of some lanes could be done by someone (or two?). Is anyone up for that?

If so, use this thread to organise it, or add your interest in coming on the 23rd September.

I'm up for a scout about and have OS Explorer 183 and 195 maps ,I have not done any of these lanes for years but there used to be some very light one's ,if any one wants to come along give me a PM .

Hi Tomcat 106 when would you like to go for a recce ,I'm about most days and early evenings in the week, my son plays Rugby League Saturday's so they are out, but Sundays would be good for me .

I'm happy to join a recce if a Sunday? A quick scan of OS maps around the area shows several 'byways open to all traffic', but if they are anything like the ones near me none will be passable?! Need some local knowledge if possible? James

Hopefully, those who can do a pre-scout with Legin will send him a private message him and arrange something.

I could join almost any Sunday but it would be in a diesel SIIA and might not be able to keep up with you!

So go ahead without me if this is a problem.

I've just rung my SII Club mates who know these green lanes but both are busy on Sunday.

In the past we've found a good starting/meeting point to be Tescos at Dunmow.

Not sure if I can make it on Sunday yet though.
