I'll try to recce some lanes with some SII Club friends before we meet up in September.
However, for those with shiny Defenders, finding some lanes that are scratch-free along their entire length might be tricky. We'll see..... |

In the end we didn't go as my friend's mum is in hospital.
He has recce'd a lot of the lanes round here and kept notes about them, so I rely on him a bit. I'll see about next week end, do you prefer Saturday or Sunday? Am I right in thinking you live in/near Galleywood? Only asking as there is a monthly LR meet organised by the SII CLub on the first Thursday of the month at the Horse & Groom on the Common there, and Classics on the Common is there next Weds. Unfortunately cannot go as our Sturmer pub meet is on the same night. |

Yes James, you caught me a day early.
I was going to bump it when we reached September! I will do so again, even closer to the time. It has been difficult to arrange a pre-scout of the local lanes as I don't know how scratchy they have become lately and whether any Defender owners want to get their vehicles scratched trying to find out! Maybe if we get together on 23rd Sept, this will become clearer as to who is up to trying it. I must admit that I don't mind my SIIA getting its paintwork scratched - but not my Defenders! |

Open to suggestions, but here are mine:
We are meeting in the village centre and if the weather is good it can be quite touristy on a Sunday, so it is tricky to name a single place to meet. Try to park in the middle of the village near the pond or up on the top Green but if that isn't possible, there's a car park behind The Fox PH in the centre (and another next to The Lion, halfway up the hill by the church). The Fox may be preferable, as it is possible to sit outside, (The Lion is where the locals go and I prefer it! ) Wherever you park, if you bring deck-chairs we can have a sit-down on the Green by the pond. I think The Fox will let you take your beers outside. Apart from the pubs there is a large tea-rooms (but where the bikers go) and a smaller tea shop on the other side of the Green. These will bring your cream tea out to you if you sit outside. As for timing, I would suggest midday onward, so that lunch is a possibilty. If we want a "parking rules" type group photo and we can't get all the vehicles together in the village, it might be possible to come to my place a mile out of the village after lunch, and park in the meadow to take some pics. However, if it's raining on the day we'll just have to play it by ear - and congregate in The Fox. |

Whilst I appreciate this meet came about by the village of Finnichingfield, I do like the idea of meeting up in a field or farmyard for parking rules photo and seeing everyone's LR's James
