Will do tomorrow hopefully, couldn't quite finish tonight.
I can't believe quite how thin the paint is on the arch spats, admittedly mine isn't just a couple of years old now but I've never used any abrasive polishes or anything and yet I still have bramble rash dull areas on the arches and that's just ornidnary use. Must only just take a few stinging nettles in the hedge over the years to take the clear coat off. The rest is pretty good really. As someone who lives in a country with no access to British sausages, I think that post, on a glorious sunny BBQ friendly weekend, is wholly unfair. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Finished washing and cleaning the outside largely, had to skip polish as I just didn't have the time or inclination in this weather.
Main objective was to just clean and protect, because last year wasn't a good year really for me so I couldn't do much to it so this year I had to catch up on paint correction which isn't ideal. If I'd had been able to keep on top of it and wasn't for the bad winter there wouldn't be such a build up of tar spots on the driver side side and generally contaminants etc. So I had to clay bar which does leave micro marring which really needs polishing out as well as andI have a couple of glass scratches on the rear. (Never notice it unless you went looking for it.) So washed with Meguiars Wash and Wax yellow. Meguiars ultimate alloy cleaner, and tyre sidewalls cleaned up, followed by CP cleaned. Seals General all around seals and trim cleaned just with cloth and water. Meguiars clay barred, normally I'd only do this for spot contaminant removal but this time had the do the whole body. Meguiars show car glaze. Meguiars ultimate wax. Rain x on glass, inside and out, lights and number plates etc. (Really good for this I find.) Finally Meguiars ultimate black on the wheel cover, rubber seals and all trim. Works well on faded powder coat and wipers arms too, inc a UV blocker. Waxed the wheels etc as per above also. Only job left to do is Meguiars endurance on the tyre sidewalls and mudflaps. This I normally only do once a year and top up with wash and wax with the yellow Meguiars one in between. This was the first time I've used the Ultimate wax, and I think it gives a darker appearance on mine than #26 paste wax which I think was lighter which I have been using. The Ultimate I prefer I think. Probably before winter, I'll do it again but no clay bar and polish as well. Hopefully from then onwards I can keep on top of it. I try and avoid using anything abrasive at all I.e. Clay bar and polish, but sometimes if it's left for a long time - longer than I normally would there isn't a choice. I like how it turned out and the ultimate black was the first time I've used that too and it seems very good. (Phone pics, not the greatest quality) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge *Edit* There is CP polishing to do too, but that can wait and be done any time. Main thing is everything is waxed which is most important. I've got some white diamond polish, w-d finishing polish and waffle pads etc for that but first some oxidisation needs to come off. All work! KEEP CALM AND Drill ON Last edited by custom90 on 30th Jun 2018 8:41pm. Edited 2 times in total |
