I suggest a 20A power socket (like a cigarette lighter) with a 20A fuse and 2mm^2 thinwall cable.

Thanks for the info - Looks like I might go with recommended 12V sockets you suggested. I did get some others but the Bluesea sockets look good.

OK I am somewhat confused by the Waeco figures.
If it requires 35 Watts on a nominal 12V dc supply that is 2.91 Amps. Is it then saying it consumes 0.67 A in operation? Seems a low amount for a fridge cooling to 5 deg. Is the 2.9 Amps the draw when it is freezing to -18 ? 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

That's because compressor fridges operate intermittently. The lower figure will be an approximate average. Darren

Try this site:
https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/cable-sizing-selection.html You can feed in current draw and size of wire and it will give you the voltage drop over distance. Depending how far your sockets are from the battery you may need to go up a size. Always add in a good safety factor on the size of wire. Too many systems are designed with cables sizes too small for the distance and you end up with insufficient voltage / current at the end. |

Thank you for the info - I had a chat with a local company who generally do VW conversions and they said the same regarding the wire. Just need to get my Blue Sea sockets order and my cool box to be wired in on the 11 July.
First short trip planned for the weekend after... |

Leisure battery installed along with some blue sea sockets - the blue sea sockets are much better than the others I had purchased. Also had to purchase a dedicated 20amp socket for the cool box.
Battery has been installed under the new load area which has worked well and they have been able to use existing access points for cables etc. |
