'It always sounds better after an oil and filter change'.......I think that, but then I think I'm imagining it!!

When the oil comes out of 2.2 with dpf it’s like water and jet black. It get diluted by the dpf cycles. It definitely does sound different after filter and oil.
I’ve still got to change fuel filter and grease underneath but I’ll do that at the weekend.

Parked up following an epic journey of 740 miles with only the ferry crossing as a rest stop.

Picked up two 172 litre metal tool chests from a French supermarket dirt cheap on special offer. Had to measure first as they look like they were made for the back of my usw. They sit on the shelf and slide sideways to allow the next one in

Happy with the look and fit and will be great when lugging camping gear in and out.

Yes have AC but did most of it with elbow out and music up as it was a 22:00 ferry from Dover then a good hike down to near Limoges. It was hot enough to do that all the way.
Noticed yesterday while out running that lots of 4x4 tours use many of the farm tracks local to my house near the ambazac hills. Will have to tag along with one when it comes through or take a local out as a guide.

It was Carrefour in La Souterrain. They had them on the shop floor for over a year before reducing them.

Used it today as a stand in for my Vw t2 for camping. I’d let the mot lapse on the Vw but promised a weekend away so this

Became this

I find camping with the Vw more fun but more stressful. One car that breaks down more than a puma landy.(but it is 40 yrs old)

Massive amount of “scene tax”. People are paying big money not knowing the quirks of an odd vehicle and then finding they are unhappy with rust, reliability ride quality, quality of spares lack of speed etc etc etc. There are also lots of “experts” out there charging big money for shoddy work.

Have I just described the Vw scene or defender ownership

Knowing one end of a spanner from the other helps with both.

Today it got a good wash. The first since a jaunt to France at the start of the school hols. The windscreen blocks have been getting worse since last winter so I whipped them off, prepped and sprayed them gloss black because that’s what I had in the cupboard. Pics to flow in the daylight.
