oil catch can - quantity collected
Does anyone use an oil catch can on here? just wondering how much oil you collect over a tank of diesel.

In my photo that's a couple of months worth of driving, around 800 miles.

I fitted a compact mishimoto can to mine and it fits a treat. BUT it has a inbuilt filter that's a bit to restrictive, after I forgot to empty it, the filter blocked up and we had a bit of an oil leak from some seals and it was burning a bit too (presumably past the valve stem oil seals) but its ok now and has been for a few months now that I unscrewed the filter.

if you have one - how much oil do you get? 1953 80"

I don't have a catch can on mine but I think that looks like a lot of oil for 800 miles?

I have/had a catch can and the amount of oil you’ve Collected doesn’t seem right to me at all. When i compare it with mine. Just the bottom covered after 2000 miles.

Perhaps Some other people can share a light on this subject. a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

I've done 67000 miles with a change every 12 months using eurocarparts triple qx 5w30 oil fully synthetic for ford engines, it runs fine, crankcase pressure out the rocker cover seems normal (same as the transit works van which is a 2.2)

maybe the oil isn't much good and is evaporating to quickly? 1953 80"

All fixed!

Lots of smoke coming from the crankcase breather, 'PHUT' noise coming from oil filler cap when undone.
I did the injector washers last saturday now no more smoke and after 100 miles nothing in the catch can!

happy boy now. 1953 80"

I would use Comma oil instead of the eurocarcrap. Not only because it’s not great quality, but because euro are ruining the motortrade and independents Evil or Very Mad

Yea I was wondering how good this euro stuff was, every other car I've ever owned has needed 20w50 mineral so this synthetic oil is new for me. I found some genuine ford stuff on ebay for sale for the same price, might try that. 1953 80"

There is a very specific spec oil WSS something or other I can't remember the Ford spec code required but should be on here somewhere.

Mine was on Castrol a few years ago but the last few years has been Fuchs and seems to run well. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
