Hello,
I'm considering fitting Gwyn Lewis cross-member mud shields onto my Puma Defender 90. She has been kept totally rust free so far (I have been mainly driving in sunny places - lucky me) and I intend to keep it as it is. On the one hand, these shields seem a clever way of avoiding mud to be trapped inside the cross-member. But in the other hand, I'm a bit puzzled seeing how they are secured on the bodywork : just two screws on the top, nothing more For those of you who have these shields fitted, did you notice anything such as rattling, wear due to friction (either on the cross-member or on the shields themselves) of any problem related to the way they are secured ? Thanks in advance ! Fabien |

I have had these fitted to my 110 Puma for the last 4 years and have had no problems at all, indeed I have the full set of chassis protection shields fitted along with front and rear mud flaps.
Like all Gwyn Lewis kit they are cleverly designed, very well made and an excellent fit. |

His products are well made and well thought out. Just fitted the forward rear arch set, no complaints. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

I had these fitted, and the guys said they were a bit of a pig. Included using a bolt 🔩 that secures the rear most seats. Now fitted I can't access the bolts holding the rear bumperettes which desperately need removing for repainting. I'm hoping I can loosen them enough to get my hand behind to save taking right off.
They do do a good job though. Thank you all for your comments I think I am going to make my order tomorow morning
Just one last question : if one of you happened to remove his x-member shields since fitting, how was it behind ? Is it to be cleaned behind once in a while... or is it just "install & forget" ? Regards, Fabien |

Member had a set for sale here
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic55509.html The only difficult bit in fitting is having to remove the brace for the rear seat belt mount inside each wing. They do chafe slightly on the front edge of the cross member, but a little grease prevents any corrosion Current Steeds: 2015 110 UW in Grasmere Green 2003 BMW F650 the Hack 2000 Elise 1992 Ducati 888 (no longer in bits, yahoo) 1990 TDR 250 (in bits again) 1988 TDR 250 (no longer in bits) and for sale |

I finally ordered a pair of mud-shields to Gwyn Lewis this morning.
I'll figure out whether they fit well once received but I can already say that Gwyn provides a impressive customer service ! He very helpfully answered to my questions and shipped the items at the very moment my order was placed Last edited by flyingfab on 19th Jun 2018 2:14pm. Edited 1 time in total |

also have a full set, front and rear fitted, skokum as frig and fits just like it's meant to.
Had to cut a bit of mine to fit passenger rear but only 10mm slot for the exhaust hanger thingy. Been out in the rain and does what it's meant to perfectly. Why LandRover never fitted something similar i'll never know. |
