Being in 'Darkest Africa' I've always been concerned about the diesel cleanliness.
I normally change the standard filter every 10 000km and it has always been rather full of gunk. Surprisingly, when doing monthly checks, there has been little to no water in the filter. I purchased a Racor filter and water separator unit, which came with a 2nd filter (for free). The kit also included a mounting bracket to replace the existing one on the blower air intake, more than enough pipe and all the connectors needed. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Another simple installation, taking about an hour (with a beverage break, or 2) The shocking part is the amount of water the separator is catching compared to the original one. Been fitted just on 2 months and have been draining about 20ml of water every second week. Now to get to the 100 000km service and see how clean this new filter is & find a new location for my jumper cable extension... Hi Sadi
It is 2 micron, so the same as the standard filter. Just an extra filtering process. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. Douglas Adams 2012 2.2 Puma |

Hi Glen
I got it from a company in Nelspruit, South Africa. So rather a fair distance from you. Chat with Petro (sales@turboformance.co.za), she's extremely helpful and may be able to point you to a supplier on your continent I'll PM you more details. The bracket is not a necessity as you can use the existing one with a little modification. I had already mounted a battery extension there and have kept it for that. Is there such a kit available for a 2.4 Puma? Hate scrabbling around under the wheel arch. 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black.

As far as I'm aware, they are the same.
Perhaps the connectors could be different? (1st picture) But then you could use the connectors off the original pipe. I would still do regular checks on the original filter though... Isn’t the standard wheel arch filter 5-microns? At least on the 2.2 I’m sure that’s what mine has on it.
I might have to look into one of these 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2 |
