If western democracy promotes freedom for ALL regardless of colour, religion or gender why does this not apply to people who are Islamists or communists living in the west? Surely it's their right to think the way they want as they are FREE to do so?

Edit: also what has this got to do with a lifeboat crew with a mug? Ray

Seriously. Is there a line up of volunteers? Are these brave men and women pure of heart and intent? Can we screen all the thousands lined up so that we don't offend. Seriously, wouldn't a warning have been sufficient. Perhaps they should have fired the "oh so easily offended". And they are not employees and the relationship is not employer and employee. Get real.

Talking about politics is fine but calling whole nations and religions because you believe a scewed media broadcast isn't very "good" shall we say. I've lived in the uk my whole life and have never felt the need for a gun and have never felt scared walking any streets, I also haven't seen Europe "importing" thousands of people who want to kill us all Rolling Eyes Ray

There is a mature debate to be had as to whether adherence to all the teachings of Islam is compatible with a 21st century European democracy.

Just the same as to whether Nazism is compatible.

If it turns out that neither are, which set of beliefs/principles should prevail in this country?

At the moment, the can is just being kicked down the road.......

Oh, and If you want to experience "fascism" just try arguing with a self-styled "liberal". Laughing

As this thread was originally about the dismissal of two members of a lifeboat crew and to get it back on track all I can say is that if I was drowning or in trouble on the sea, and this is just my own opinion I would not give a flying fig about colour, creed or the religion of the person who saved me and neither should anyone else.
Moreover, while I respect other people’s opinions, the attitude expressed by one overseas member does him no favours. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Unless I’ve missed something it would appear those dismissed haven’t bothered to appeal the decision.

One has to presume the evidence against them was overwhelming.

Or they couldn't be bothered to have a fight so they could work hard in dangerous conditions for free. Ray

Wonder what Lateralus is doing here anyway. Don’t see anything in his profile about driving a Land Rover of any sort, let alone a Series or Defender, never have read anything about his truck in any of his posts. As said, sounds like the wrong forum for his continuous political bickering.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I thought this was the "off topic" forum. I drive a jeep wrangler and have lusted over the defender for years. I would have bought one most likely if they were sold here. I check out the latest news and rumors on the new model and the for sale section just for fun.

One of the characteristics of a cult is the notion that you cannot question an idea. I suppose if I was bashing Brexit I wouldn't be called out so much.

Back on topic, I am a boat owner and a subscriber to the amazing RNLI, the work they do is to be totally respected and they are all hero’s just for volunteering to go to sea. Perhaps there is more to this story than we will ever know?

With regard to Lateralus to be quite honest I won’t be wasting anymore of my time replying to your political comments and attitude but just thank my lucky stars I’m British,I own a Defender and belong to a great cult of Defender owners Rolling with laughter something you can only dream about Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90

I for one have no problem with your vehicle of choice and if you ever get the chance to own a Defender I wish you well I know you will enjoy the mark.

The problem is you vilify people because of their choice of religion or race and then use a historical date to try and condone your thoughts as accurate.

All the People in this world are different that is what makes us interesting some of us might not agree with their beliefs but that does not make any of us who object with those persons thoughts as being right or wrong or any better or worse, we just have to agree to disagree with their beliefs some of us without the knowledge why we do so.

As for Brexit that is at the moment a bit of a culmination of British peoples personal thoughts and until it has been worked out cannot be given as a get out of jail card free as you seem to suggest. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Same with me I’m a boat owner and think the crews do an amazing job but I’ve heard some right relavations about the managers and HR manager today from a customer who’s brother in law works for the RNLI.
