Any progress with the combined key - as i mentioned in my other post, my remote won't open from more than 3 feet away (and the head thing makes no difference before you suggest it ). Sigh.....

Prototypes being made this week - testing next week, will keep you informed.
But as MSE says, extending the aerial up the A post makes a huge difference. |

First prototype key tested today, great range 30m+ (Ickle has the aerial extension mod) few tweaks to be done but should be available in about 6 weeks to buy as an unprogrammed blank, looks and feels like a key to a chunky off roader should.

When you say unprogrammed blank, I guess that means it has to be taken to a mainstealer to be programmed and also cut - assuming they would be willing to do that, does anyone know the charge for that. Had a VW key done about 6 years ago and the cost back then was about £75 if I recall correctly

Blank - does this mean I can take cut blank off my existing key and swap it in the unit for the blank there, saving me getting another one cut?
Got a Nanocom, ands assuming I can remember what to do, should be able to programme blipper. 2001 TD5 110 DCPU in Bonatti Grey |

The key would be supplied uncut & unprogrammed I believe, possibly with spare blank key so if the local locksmith cocked up the cutting, you would have a spare.
Yes you would need it programming by someone with nanocom or an independant with testbook or similar. |

Daniele, I'm going to get the supplier to talk directly to Martin with either a donation per unit or sponsorship deal, they're really nice genuine people, I've only become the prototype tester by chance and have no connection with them whatsoever.
I was quite frightened though on how someone with an in depth knowledge of an alarm system can do what ever they want with a system, no wonder so many Defenders disappear. Time to review security I think! |

I have driven a 2010 110 with integrated key. Due to the positioning of the ignition lock and switch stalk on that (left) side, it is more an impediment than the separate key & remote fob. I'm glad my 90 has the latter. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |
