Have just gutted the DC, including removing the dash and lifting out the transmission cover etc, all in aid of a number of jobs to prep the Def until the next big strip out, hopefully no less than a decade away. I'm keen to lift the floor panels up, to give them a good clean before sound-proofing, sealing and re-fitting, but as Mrs Grenadier is unlikely to find herself under the chassis, and my arms are not as long as Mr Tickle's, I cannot work out how to remove the bolts towards the transmission tunnel or mid-point on the rear passenger floor panel. Does anyone have a clever trick (or recommend a tool) to hold the nut in place under the panel, whilst undoing the bolt from the top? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I thought they were just screwed down into plastic clips? Ray

Mine don't seem to be. Hex bolts all round. But then having stripped this back, a lot is not what it seems (or the stealer claimed it) to be. Lucky I bough the DC with the intention of fully stripping it back and eventually re-doing everything from the ground up. But some of the DIY stuff under the skin is frankly laughable. And I bought from the stealer because I thought they had a good reputation... Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've taken mine apart a couple of times and it was screwed into plastic clips with fat self tapping screws. Same type as the front grill.

The grinder is your best friend here, whip off the tops and punch em through

I had to resort to the neighbours help when I fitted my rear mud shields- I simply couldn’t get the nut onto the screw and hold the top of the screw all at the same time.
A gizmo would be useful, but not sure how you could do it. 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2 |
