Error codes
54 plate TD5 has twice thrown up error codes relating to ABS and Aircon, none of which the vehicle has.

Any ideas why?

Thanks in advance.

Kev.

AFAIK that's normal, our MY06 Td5 does it too.

Greetings,

Joris

Normal behavior, those functions are supported by the ECU and if not used will produce the errors shown.
There's no way to turn the functions off if unused so the errors will always reappear immediately if cleared, does no harm though.

Same here a Nanocom throws them up, but LR diagnostics don't presumably because its aware of what the car was built with and masks them out Thumbs Up

No lights just a couple of routine checks showed them.

Thanks.

Dorsetsmith,

A learning moment seems to be lurking around the corner... What would you be thinking of if the amber EML does show?

Greetings,

Joris

ABS, aircon or auto gearbox codes are there because these functionalities are enabled in engine ECU configuration. The only way how to disable them is modification of the configuration map - similar to remap of the fuel map. Not easy. There is no way hot to do it with diagnostics. I have been several times asked by local MOT, to help them with these, or at least to help the understand, that this is not a problem. Here in Czech republic Defender is a bit rare car, so they have only limited experience. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
