Another washer jet query
I want to do the mod using the left hand drive wiper holes and install 2 separate jets using front and rear pumps for the windscreen, is it possible just to solder the wires together from both pumps so that both motors work from the wiper push button stalk or will this overload the wiring to the stalk. Why would you want to? If all the kinks are taken out of the water pipe and the none return valve is ok then the pump for the front gives plenty of pressure for two front jets. Ray

If you did set it up as you describe, you'd have to be careful which way around it's plumbed in. The rear screen pump is higher than the front so that you can't leave yourself without water for the front screen.

As mk1collector says though, the front pump is perfectly adequate. This is the second vehicle I've made the mod to:

I concur!

My 1984 90SW has had this since before I bought it in 12/1999 and has worked flawlessly and my vehicle was both a training vehicle, an off road trials motor and lives on mucky 'C-class' roads through farms. The only thing I had to do when I got it was swap the pipes round on the T-pipe to stop the water priority being on the passenger's side!

I've binned the standard centre washer and moved to jets mounted on the wipers themselves. Locating the jets onto the wipers makes a massive difference - look into the VW type 99 wiper relay too Thumbs Up

As for using two pumps - no reason why not if you want a bit more oomf out of them. My mate runs his this way and I'm about to do the same as I've removed my rear wiper totally now.

There are a couple of conversion kits out there for a bigger washer jet pump, but might as well piggy back two if you have them for free.

Thanks All! Ross It was the wiring I was concerned about, what would happen if the 2 motor connectors were wired together? Jeff

It'll increase the load on the wiring, so may be worth looking into a relay if you plan on using them for extended periods

My mate who has run this set up for around 5 years hasn't bothered and I'm not going to either
