Headling help please
Hi all, hoping some of you who have been there and done it can help me please. Bow down

I’m having trouble with the fir tree clips holding my new roof lining in place, they keep popping out and the lining is therefore dropping down.

It’s in a HT 90, so there is one fixing along the centre length on the rear section, and several along the centre (above the bulkhead) where the front section overlaps the back section.

I have tried new standard 7.5mm replacement clips, and also some extra long 8mm clips but they are still coming out.

So, question. If I get some 8mm thread self tapping hex head screws and some 30mm diameter stainless washers will this be enough to hold it all in place.

Will they grip into the existing holes? Without taking the lining down I cannot measure the holes, but I presume they are 7.5mm?

Any help much appreciated as its frustrating me as the new lining looks so smart.

Cheers all.

Ps I can get these in black stainless so they should look smart

I have one extra fir tree clip in my roof lining to help hold it up. It's been ok since this was added. Thumbs Up

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Is your extra one in the rear section then, running along the centre line from the front to the back?

Mine are all coming out on the joing between the two sections, so I am thinking I need a more permanent fixing solution?

Cheers.

Yes, extra one in the middle of the rear section running along the centre front to back.

Thanks chaps.

I had another go last night, gave the extra long ones a whack with a rubber malet and they seems to have gone in better. So i will see and if they still fail I will go down the more permanant route!

Cheers.

Cheers chaps,

the gentle persuasion of the mallet seems to have done the job for now!

Cheers.

If they are pulling them selves out under gravity / roof lining weight try "packing" out the fir trees with a bit of heat shrink tubing WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG
