Well, pushing this as a) it wasn't today it was yesterday an b) it wasn't in my Defender but my D4...
Anyway, went to visit my sister & nephew, after sitting in the garden being shown various toy Land Rovers nephew asks if I want to see some real old Land Rovers down in the village so we go for a drive. He shows me a 2a lwb pick up & a 3 lwb Safari SW in a field & there is a 2 lwb tray back just visible too. Then we go round the corner so he can show me the fire engine - a 2a forward control coach built ex Isle of Man, just visible. Then the guy who owned them appeared & asked if we wanted to see some more... Silly question! An anoraks heaven with 2 air portables, another fire engine, a one ton, a lwb 'hybrid' USW, a couple of Sankey trailers , a Willys Jeep & lots of bits! |

@clayton, I know she's your workhorse, though it looks like a bit of paint on the cage would be welcomed

Yesterday I gave the garden its first full, early season dig out. During my five return trips to the skip, I made an observation. Not once in ten journeys did I get into the Defender thinking 'oh no, here we go again' or get out thinking 'phew, glad that's over'. I loved every journey. Window down, music on, surrounded by the Alps on a spring day, what's not to love? Indeed the only time I ever fear, shy away, worry, or am not a fan of the Def is the depth of winter when it might or might not start. But that will be resolved for the end of the year with a garage and various winter upgrades. Otherwise I LOVE my Def. I'm sure there are many other cars out there which offer fun in return for miles covered, but there's something extra about a Def. Much like James Brown it has 'soul'. I love it everytime I drive it.
Cannot wait for the BAS upgrades and road trip to Spain in June. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Took a good look at my 8 original door hinges today. Tomorrow they won’t be anymore, and move into the history books.
Eric Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
