it may count as ‘doing it in a defender’ as my 110 took me to the airport and home -
But we have just come back from a 2 week trip to Iceland and had a great time driving round the ring road in a hired car (a logan and not a defender ...sadly) I noted that there were a lot more defenders there that I has seen on my previous trip a few years ago, and a high number of disco sports and disco 5s on the road in the hire fleets. lots of Dusters and suzuki 4x4s also in use. However the star fo the show was the 8x8 4 wheel steering converted military MAN that was used as a glacier bus and took us up onto the ice. The vehicle has independent air systems for each tyre so they can be deflated and inflated at will to accommodate the changes in terrane, there were 4 diff-locks, and 3 gearbox settings, more GPS and communications than I have ever seen. I was privileged to sit in the cab on the return trip from the glacier and had a birds eye view of the road/track/route as well as the operation of all the bells and whistles of the truck ... now is this a worthy replacement of my 110 ?? (Mate with the Africa Twin was only moving his bike from front of pub to rear, hence t-shirt) Click image to enlarge |

Hi Alex, it came up on eBay around the time we picked up the double cab. The chap we bought it off had had it made but never got round to putting it on his before he sold it, so just a one off. Ray

Fitted a new metal strip and rubber seal to the floor at the rear door. The old one was rotten.

Went for a long drive with a heap of ignition spares and tools and sorted out my really annoying hot start problem!
Fixing it at the road side to make sure it was done for good! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Finally fitted the Disco 2 switch and control system. Very chuffed with final finish. Possibly slightly over the top!
But much easier to use now Click image to enlarge 2015 90 XS Santorini Black |
