I hadn't seen anything about it either, but I have removed the EGR from my TD5, the MOT tester mentioned the changes.
I mentioned it to the service manager at my local independent last week when the Freelander was serviced and he confirmed he had heard it too, but couldn't show me anything on paper. Apparently part of the governments response to diesel emissions. Ouch - just looked it up - from the new rules effective May 2018.
8.2.2.1 Exhaust emission control equipment You only need to check components that are visible and identifiable, such as diesel oxidation catalysts, diesel particulate filters, exhaust gas recirculation valves and selective catalytic reduction valves. If a diesel particulate filter has clearly been cut open and rewelded, you should reject it unless the vehicle presenter can show evidence that there was a valid reason to cut it open, such as for filter cleaning. Defect Category (a) Emission control equipment fitted by the manufacturer missing, obviously modified or obviously defective Major failure (b) An induction or exhaust leak that could affect emissions levels Major failure (c) Evidence that the diesel particulate filter has been tampered with Major failure This from https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/syst...-draft.pdf Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - P 2000 TD5 Disco II, front and rear winches, 2" lift, ARB bumper etc.etc. -- 2010 TDCi Puma 90 HT - Bulkhead removal kit, Ashcroft front and rear lockers, Andersons front and rear, Warn XD9000i winch, battery split charge system, Patriot full roof rack.
