All external mods are finished.

Hi mate what guards are these? I’m wanting to make my front end more inline with the aircon grille also and these look bang on what I’m after Thanks Jim.

Embarassed only just seen this, sorry. I bought the guards on ebay. They were advertised as OEM manufactured but they are not as the coating is not the same. Can't remember who's they are but if you put oem defender light guards in the search box you'll find them.

Your reasons for fitting are exactly the same as mine.

After two days running nursing staff to and from the hospice my 90 was in severe need of a deep clean. I left the engine running with the heater on full and the draft from the seals is self explanatory Laughing

The windscreen surround has been developing the usual corrosion but I've been reluctant to go down the warranty route after reading the many horror stories on here.
Windscreen blocks and a/c panel were done 2 years ago under warranty and took forever so I decided to buy a genuine colour touch up and have a go.
I removed the block and sanded the area. Using an artists brush I applied etch primer followed by the top coat with the same brush. I lifted the rubber with a plastic tyre lever to get reasonable coverage.
I know the finish isn't great but it has saved me the heartache of worrying what might have been going on at dealership body shop.

The actual paint side of the job turned out great on Em's, it was just the several attempts and other things the bodyshop damaged at the same time which was a pain, and the timescale. It did get sorted in the end though. Does the genuine touch up come with lacquer too? Ray

It does Ray. I may try to flat it and then lacquer. I do prefer the Halfords pens though with choice of brush or nib.

The only thing is, what is it like under the windscreen rubber if it's that bad there? Ray

I levered the rubber up to apply paint underneath as best I could.

The ravages of winter was showing on the front light guards so I decided to give them some tlc. Sanded and repainted with satin black.
I can highly recommend the Erbauer cordless multitool from Screwfix.
