Would these van seats work in the back of a landy?
OK so with the series I have 4 individual seats in the back inward facing.


With the kids in the back forward facing would be better? so I seem to have little choice of Exmore trim, plus srting the seat belts etc.


So I had a thought about this type. Not even sure I have the width or height but this idea in principle? or how you get into the seats but in theory would they work?


The runners bolt through and spreader plates underneath? Seats on top with the built in belts and the quick release fittings?

Don't see why not - 20 years ago I'd have fitted them without a second thought. But apparently the world has changed, someone will be posting soon mentioning insurance and construction and use issues Banging Head

That looks like Unwin tracking or something similar, it is often used in minibus conversions or coach built accessible transport where there is a need to swap between carrying seated passengers and wheelchairs. It is normally routered into some form of ply flooring that is pull tested to ensure compliance with the seat belt regulations as the seatbelts are attached to the seat frames not the floor. Personally I cannot see a way of installing it into a Deffender safely while at a reasonable price, even with the spreader plates. If there was I would probably have done it in mine.

They would go in, you might need to reduce the height of the seat base as headroom will be very little, doubt you’ll get an adult seated comfortably on them at standard height

You could go down the route of fitting genuine forward facing seats but they are not cheap and require the rear tub arches to be adapted, I too had the same predicament and looked at various options, the seats you mention although would probably do the job access to the seats and access into the rear in general would be very restricted. I’ve modified td5 discovery 3rd row seats in to the back of ours

Fairly easy with a bit of thought but it allows them to be removed out the way and access between for the kids to get in and out, all in think it cost me less than £150

This is a common issue effecting the conversion of vans to mini buses and taxis in particular. They require am individual IVA test which checks the safety of the install. While you would not need one of these to carry your own kids for example it might give you n idea of the safety standards you should aim for.
