what is the 2.2 Puma battery type
On the MY2014 2.2 Puma engine what type of battery should I use?
I think it is a smart alternator so do I have to use a silver calcium battery.
The one in it is a genuine Jag/Land Rover part and is a standard lead/acid type which I think was fitted by Land Rover.
If I need a silver calcium type battery can anyone recomend what to use?

Puma no smart alternator. Standard wet cell battery will do, otherwise LR would never have installed it, no?
If you do a search on here you will get a zillion threads on batteries. Like the one below for instance. The most educated battery explanation and advise is given by user tatra805. First thread below, worth reading.

The alternator is just a normal one.

I fitted a Yuasa battery from Halfords. 5 year warranty, same size and a greater capacity and CCA than the factory battery.

Genuine batteries are good and last well, but they're not magical as some would have you believe. They are however extremely expensive. About £200 last time I looked, which is twice what I paid for my Yuasa one which will from experience last much longer than the 5 year warranty.
While Land Rover batteries do generally last many years, they still only come with the standard 2 year Land Rover parts warranty.

Yuasa are usually a good make, used them on bikes and stuff for years, but have not tried the larger ranges as they aren't readily available here.

The best factory ones were about fifteen years ago, when they were Delphi - they lasted forever. I sold my Discovery 2 at 13 years old with the original Delphi factory fitted battery still in it, though it was getting a bit tired by then!

The later 'genuine parts' ones I think are now mostly Varta where there is branding, and whatever they fit appears to be much lower quality. I bought a 110Ah Td5 battery for my 300Tdi 110 about three or four years ago but they just don't seem to hold their charge like the old ones did, on a vehicle that is not used much, mine doesn't have an alarm or anything to drain it either. ---
