Well this is what I'm thinking about. even the tech at the dealer says its very unusual to have fault codes at all, so either they actually built one correctly or the ecu isnt storing them

I would say that you have fault codes stored in the ecu, non tested DTC's that is. IDS only looks for tested DTC's as they are the problem codes. Non tested DTC's are exactly what the name suggests, they go through a number of cycles before clearing or showing up as a tested DTC and illuminating the MIL light. With the nanocom and the remap interface, non tested DTC's appear and disappear over a period of time but do not show up on IDS yet appear on the nanocom/remap interface. The most common I have found are Turbo underboost/overboost, Mass or volume air flow A circuit, Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control circuit range/performance and Mass air flow (MAF) sensor in range but higher than expected to name a few. Unless of course you are the only one I know about with a perfect defender that is, if so then please ignore my post

Cheers Bri. I should probably bite the bullet and get a nanocom but am loathe to give them the business tbh.
