Anybody got a Stainless fixings list
Looking at some of the kits available they appear very expensive compared to going to a supplier and buying direct. I work very close to an excellent fixing supplier who sell this stuff for a fraction of the price. However I don’t want to have to take the landy apart to get sizes and lengths. I understand that some of the extra cost comes from somebody already having done this so don’t really want to get into that debate. They will all be fitted with anti galvanic paste so will also avoid that debate too.
My question is, does anybody have a list of sizes of fixings required for different areas of the vehicle (110 usw) eg doors, bonnet, lights, bumper etc so I can give them a picking list.

That’s a very very long list.

I’ve gone down that road for the last 4 years. Changing everything to stainless.

I’ve used duralac. And i can highly recommand that. After 4 years still no corrosion between stainless and non stainless.

I’am sorry i haven’t kept records. I normally Just take 1 out and order those

Exactly what I’m trying to avoid. Short of taking stuff off in the car park at the supplier I’d be stuck with undoing everything twice. Once to measure and once to replace

Luckily its not that bad.

Most of the Times you can undo a bolt. Ie third row Seat and then order them for all the Seats. Anyway that’s how i’ve done it so far

But if you don’t want to do that you can look it up in microcat. a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

Perhaps Martin could make some sort of sticky thread where people can add bolt and nut sizes as they come across them, it might not help original poster but would develop into a usefull tool ...... A list of torque settings would not hurt either.

Anybody with some free time could use this website www.landroverworkshop.com to start the list from the diagrams.

when sourcing ss fasteners you need to be aware that there are a lot of Chinese poor quality ss fasteners out there...cheapest is not always the best way to go.........sometimes vendors have done some of the work for you and I for one don't mind helping to improve their retirement fund by paying a little extra....as long as they are not taking the Micky!

That’s a great idea.

I feel an excel sheet coming. Very Happy

Also include which grade of ss (A2/A4) and strenght (70/80)

This site looks pretty good https://www.landroverworkshop.com/diagrams/body-chassis/doors.
I bought my 110 new in 2009 just had the steel wheels powder coated this week and I had been wondering about replacing the bolts around door hinges.

Thanks

For the doors see below.
Problem with 1st and 2nd row doors is the shape of the heads ('raised countersunk'? is that the correct term?). Only supplier I know of is nakatanenga.

all: TX 40, M8

1st row upper and lower hinges:
M8x40 (A-Post)
M8x55 (door)

2nd row upper:
M8x85 (B-post)
M8x55 (door)
2nd row lower:
M8x95 (B-post)
M8x55 (door)

rear door all three hinges:
M8x25 (body)
M8x50 (door)

That is the way I was thinking there is a supplier in my area but may not have these in stock, but they can order them for me.
