Thanks, it’s actually Britpart’s new version, they’ve changed to Ring LEDs but they are bigger so needs a new bumper design. My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

Ticked another few jobs off the list;

The bodyshop who carried out the repair on the rear of my Defender also noticed I had a broken exhaust hanger and welded it back on for me which was great!

I’ve now fitted a replacement reverse light switch - thanks to the advice on this forum - and it has cured my intermittent reverse light, which is great.

I replaced my VCV which again, due to the wonderful people on this forum I got for a bargain. I then visited the very friendly and helpful Ian who carried out the VCV relearn for me. Bow down

So despite the wrongun who recently visited this forum - it just goes to show most are a brilliant group of friendly, helpful and like minded people Bow down

I’ve also recently fitted the TMD cruise control kit, which is a really nice touch for long journeys and especially towing aup and down the motorways!

Finally, and maybe my favourite mod (close run thing with the LED headlights!) is a new Pioneer headunit. This is the new Pioneer CarPlay unit, so does nav, music, all in one. Fantastic piece of kit!

Hi Ian,

I was going to PM you - yes as soon as I drove away I could feel it was smoother at low revs (under 2k)

I’ve now done about 100miles and it’s markedly different, smoother and barely any stuttering..

I’ve also noticed it seems easier to start in the morning when cold, and barely any smoke although it hasn’t been quite as cold the last couple of mornings.

So yes, all things considered, everything I hoped for Mr. Green

Thank you Bow down My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

Finally found the time to fit the Wheel carrier, this is a britpart special. Since thinking I’d bought the Mantec then finding out they were no longer available, I hunted around for an affordable replacement. The rear door being brand new after the little bump, I didn’t want to damage it with that heavy Wheel and tyre hanging off the back!

I’ve now also bought some black plastic caps to cover the silver nuts and bolt heads.

The Defender has gone into a local specialist today to have a few jobs done including fuel tank breather replacement as it can’t be filled up at the moment Big Cry - also Service and MOT, the first in my ownership Whistle My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

Also having used the cruise control recently for a long journey towing - I would strongly recommend getting a kit to anyone, very smooth and controls the speed well. Made for a relaxing drive (other than the normal idiots on the road of course!) Whistle My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

Good news, the Defender passed the MOT with no advisories Mr. Green Thumbs Up

I also took the opportunity to have the following done, so I’m feeling the pain a little;

- Fuel tank breather hose replacement – so it doesn’t leak while filling up
- Annual Service
- Diff Pinion seal
- Oil leak on engine
- Front steering damper (the recently fitted Bilstein had failed ☹ )
- Rear shock bushes
- Panhard rod bushes and bolts (superpro)
- Front swivel shim check / adjust

An expensive few months of Defender ownership but I’m doing my best to keep on top of any issues which arise. Whistle My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

no real updates on the defender front recently, but I have developed a couple of faults which I'm looking for some advice on.

the clutch is showing the classis signs of release bearing / spring failure, but I wonder if this also is causing the biggest problem I have at the moment (taken from a thread I started in technical section) :

Could the failing clutch / release bearing cause a harsh vibration through the vehicle?

The best way to describe it is - Imagine the feeling like you’ve shifted up to the wrong gear and really laboured the engine (ie like going to select 3rd but selected 5th instead)

I’ve got the classic signs my clutch is failing (very noisy release bearing at idle and clatter when switching off) and now this vibration has appeared which seems to be only when cold (ie first few miles of the day) and at low speed / gears. At first I thought it was Exhaust, but it’s all secure on inspection.

If not clutch, what else could it be?

any ideas guys?

the other problem I've got is what I believe to be EGR related; any good guides about for removal / refitting? (want to take it off to check the motor/gears and clean). My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html
