Have they had a look a Fuel rail pressures?
You can get cheaper aftermarket FP sensors for around £25. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

My best tip.
Go and drive with a nano com (or something similar). I had the same end result as you had. In limp mode and no errors. In the end it was an overheating issue, it could only been seen with a nano com. The meter in the dash was stille in the middle but the water temp was 110 C????? Good luck a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

Yes It should do? But then not everything is as straight forward as it seems! You can still get problems, and no codes. Is it actually cutting out, or going to limp mode? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Oh definitely yes.
Had it twice already (different problems, no error code but same result: limp mode). Therefore i've bought the icarsoft to monitor the parameters whilst driving. Greetings, and I mean this: good luck with finding the problem a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

Hi
I have had this problem on 2 different occasions, on the first time I replaced the valve at the end of the injection rail, but this made it better but it was not until we did an injector and pump reset & learn that it solved it but only for a year or so and it came back. I found that if I disconnected the MAF sensor the problem stopped, it then ran on a default settings, cleaning the MAF sensor improved the problem but did not remove it completely. Replacing the MAF cured it. The problem was like yours, no fault code the engine would just cut out when pulling up at traffic lights or roundabouts, or not respond to the accelerator pedal, switching off and restarting it would run OK again. It was not until I replaced the MAF sensor that I realized the engine had been running so poorly. I was able to monitor the MAF sensor output on the IDtool I have and the output would jump all over the place, with the new sensor it almost stable at constant speeds. If you replace it, you must do and injector learn and pump reset. Hope this helps. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW Volvo S60 T8 Triumph 1200 Rally Explorer G0UBX |

Cable to the battery mega-fuse was loose!
At least that's what they think at the moment, going to do some more test runs in it. |

Hi sjwdrew, I'm having the same issue, did you ever get to the bottom of it? It's a 2007 too.

Honestly, to me it sounds like the VCV valve. Bergos

Hello Martienssen,
I thought it was going to be the VCV as well and the garage was standing by to replace, however they decided to check all the electrics first and low and behold turned out to be a loose wire between the battery and the mega fuse!! Since this I have had no problems (touching lots of wood!!!) Good luck. Simon |

Similar issue on my 2008 2.4, which I've narrowed down to the fuel rail. I can get a good price on the assy with both the VCV and the regulator new and attached. I'm confused about whether I'll need to have the pump re-learn or not. Haynes doesn't suggest it for the full rail replacement but it seems to be mentioned frequently for the VCV replacement. Would appreciate any clarity before I jump in.
Cheers, all! |

while there check the battery lead / clamps are secure onto the battery (ie don't just assume that they are secure because the bolt to tighten them is tight). good luck.
