Hi
I'm also in the process of fitting central locking. Doesn't look like big a challenge except maybe fiddling with the alarm system since the version I have doesn't have the necessary relays fitted. For now I'm going to leave it working independently of the alarm. There is a ton of info in the forum archives - try a search and you'll come up with great stuff like this: http://la7dja.org/defender/cdl/ No idea about the Windows though. TTFN |

technically they're right, but people have had a lot of success just attaching the missing relays.
The unit is the same with or without central locking, it's just whether the central locking bit is actually there. It's not hard to add by all accounts. |

The missing relay is inside the green 10AS unit, I've just upgraded the one in my soft top 90.
However a 2016 Defender has the newer alarm system so I don't know whether these are similarly upgradable 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I don't want to create a new one.
If I have the relay inside the 10AS unit, does it mean that the Central Locking should work after attaching actuators to the wires that ends just at the entrance to the front door? I've been installing aftermarket central locking system and want to use factory wires. Just made a short test with the fob and the only thing I get is horn that goes on once, but that is ok as there are no door switches installed yet. Should the actuator work even knowing that the doors are not closed, or all doors must be closed to acitivate the central locking? Mine is MY2007 110HT |

Just a question....I have a my2015 90 ....is it a simole job to add another extra actuator to the original setuip..do you just piggy back onto one of the door actuators ...or is it more complicated!

How did you upgrade the unit? By adding external relay, or there can be one soldered inside? Cheers |

Cheers Dorsetsmith
Wish I new about this page before I reinstalled my unit and dash back in Had everything in pieces for almost a year! Well - need to check precisely what part no my unit is. There is NEC relay inside, but have no idea what "associated components" mean.. And at the end it may appear that it was not programmed to have CL active |

Seems the black 10AS modules are not that easy to add central lock to. I also found this out the hard way. May need to go to the dealership for insight on how to program and install the wires... I have the 5wire actuator on the front doors and 2wire on the rear, so from the keyhole i can lock and unlock the doors. However, a more luxurious install is using the remote. |

Hi,
I'm going to have a go at retrofitting genuine central locking to the front doors of my '09 110 as it looks like I have the connectors hanging loose in the A-pillars already. I'm just trying to price it and putting together a parts list I have the following - looks fairly simple - wiring, actuator, link rod and clips either end? Drivers door FUD500020 Actuator & switch assembly-central door locking driver's door CWH000010 Clip-linkage FQK500040 Link rod Latch to actuator IPN500250 Clip-linkage Latch to actuator LR016315 WIRING HARNESS FRONT DOOR WITH ELECTRIC WINDOWS - DEFENDER 2007 ON Passenger door FUD500030 Actuator & switch assembly-central door locking passenger’s CWH000010 Clip-linkage FQK500040 Link rod Latch to actuator IPN500250 Clip-linkage Latch to actuator LR016316 WIRING ASSY FRONT DOOR PASSENGER DEFENDER Sorry to ask - Is there anything else I need? I haven't removed the door cards yet - I'm guessing I should already have these holes pre-drilled in the door casing? I understand that as per the technozen page I'll likely need to get the 10AS modified also as it has reference YWC50066 on it. Many thanks, Cheers, Andy... Edinburgh, Scotland http://24heuer.com |
