I'll give them ago - In fairness to flux, LR insurance just tried to charge me £1800! Mike

Ouch! £570 full no claims, no convictions etc with Adrian Flux. Footman James £560.......

Edit - haggled with AF no joy but but got FJ down to £528 with my wife. Loading the business use on top made no difference and same with the Warn winch and bumper so Happy with that. Will be a lot cheaper when it gets down to 20K ish apparently to around the £350 mark!

Had a quote from F&J for £375 for a 22K Defender XS 2 months ago which is why I was shocked at the £550 ish quotes and asked the question e.g. Why so much for a vehicle worth only 7K more Thumbs Up Cannot get you into any of the special deals in that price bracket was the answer from both insurers!!

My AF policy has gone up 20 percent, I brought it (renewed) how ever my policy now excludes me from driving other vehicles too, so they have changed the policy I thought I was buying. Furthermore added my trip to france/Spain and today they want £54 extra premium. Well boxed in as going so have paid it. Pointed out I went abroad 3 times last year, told them they never charged me then why now? I was told I should have been and thus got away with it Shocked

I will go away approx 3 times this year so another £162 on the premium, based on that and the issue with driving other vehicles, will see how much to tip the policy Censored and shop else where Evil or Very Mad

I tried all the specialists to insure my new 90xs with no no claims (which are all on my daily driver) Im 45 wanted 4000miles and keep it in a garage at night with no crashs and no convictions couldnt get insurance from anyone in the land mags for less than £1000 (£1400 being about average). I got a week free from AVIVA sorted at the dealers and they did a year fully comp for £850 by going on line , dont know what they are like for modded landies but mine will be staying pretty much standard till the warranty runs out by which time I will have 3yrs NCB on it so might be worth trying them. Ive had bikes and kit cars in the past and found Adrian Flux very good even when people crashed into me. good luck great forum

I know my disco insurance went down with AF with the level of cover remaining the same, including european cover, driving other cars and protected no cliams etc, but i needed the NCB on the range rover - so thats why i cancelled it.

When it came to renew my disco on my other set of NCB adrian flux just couldnt get the quote anywhere near some of the others - so I didnt bother. They also couldnt get anywhere near as i mentioned for the range rover - so they lost 3 policies in about 12 hours. Mike

I wanted to go with AF after Direct Line wanted to change me £1200.00 for a 2011 XS 110 SW , full no claims , no points no convictions . i nearly fell off my chair especially given they covered my D3 for around £550 a year ago.

AF were all over £1000.00 so ended up with eSure for £460 , well it was until I corrected the policy as they had listed the tinted widows as Manufacturer option , when i told them they were after market it went up £46.00

I really don't understand why an extra cost option should be no charge and an extra cost after market option doing the same job effects the cover by 10% , Mad....

God knows what they would charge if i start putting other stuff on Sad

Any LR accessory/ factory option is not only type approved but of known quality and compatibility. Mike

Thanks Mike , Thumbs Up

Does that only apply to LR parts or other parts sold by LR , eg. if I am not mistaken LR list a Warn winch in the catalogue , does that mean that would be looked on as after market or LR option ?

Does that also mean they would expect that it was purchased from and fitted by a landrover dealer ?

Do you know if it is only certain additions or all , this could get expensive ie. I would like a hitching camera , LR Trailair system looks expensive but if I am going to get hit with another £50 a year on top of the price of a different product then it probably makes sense

Sorry for the picky questions , I am just trying to understand this as I have not come across this before , the changes to my D3 were roof bars and a tow pack.

Personally its up to you what to tell them - and im not talking about being dishonest.

I know from 3 different insurers they have been clear to me that anything out of the land rover accessory booklet is an accessory and of less (or no in my case) concern to them. So that included the warn winch and bumper were the Land Rover ones listed, the winch didnt come from LR but the bumper did, the winch was the same spec as the land rover one (9.5ti) so they didnt care - that went for everything else to Mike
