After my recent Bonnet loss at a Birmingham hotel, i have now fitted LED indicator bulbs and reduced the fuses in the indicator systems down to 5amp and the alarm fuses up to 20amp.
I have also fitted back up earth link from the battery to the chassis and + back up from the battery to the fuse box to stop battery cables being cut under the car. Also fitted anti smash film to front windows why do we have to go to these lengths why cant Land Rover sort as standard ???? Any way back at the same hotel tonight dont think i am going to get much sleep If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. The definitive answer to the question about whether or not the BBUS is plug and play can now be revealed.
The wiring to support the BBUS is not fitted in its entirety, so you will need both the BBUS and one section of harness. This harness plugs into the main bulkhead harness (which does include the necessary wiring) and replaces the equivalent harness already on the vehicle. (An alternative would be to add the additional wires into the existing harness, but it doesn't look as though it is possible to obtain the necessary connector components either for the BBUS end or the bulkhead end). The new harness supports both the BBUS and the non-battery-backed alarm sounders and it is possible to leave the existing one in place (the alarm will then sound both horns and both sounders). Apart from the harness and adding the sounder, no other changes are needed. Total cost on genuine parts is c. £170. I do not intend to be more specific about the harness on a public forum, since, although most owners will know where the alarm system components are fitted I don't think it is sensible to advertise it. |
