Hi all.
Has anyone changed their clutch themselves? Mines slipping. Is it doable on the drive? Any special tools needed? Cheers Rich |

Definitely doable on the drive. Take your time, you'll have to deal with all the gearbox/transfer box lever linkages.
Engine crane works poked through the passenger door to lower the gearbox down, as does a trolley jack from underneath to take the weight of the assembly. The gearbox/transfer box assembly is heavy, unbalanced and awkward, be careful with it! |

A slipping clutch can be caused by the rocker cover gasket leaking down the back of the block And getting onto the clutch. This happened on mine but I hadn't realised until the gearbox was off
![]() Not saying that's what's causing it but just my experience. Could have saved many hours work if I had realised earler. I changed everything anyway as it was apart but the clutch had loads of life left in it ![]() 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Ideally you want to change the DMF at the same time which is more involved as the box has to come out.
