Axel Stand's and Trolley Jack
I need to buy axel stand's and a trolley jack for general maintenance etc. The trolley jack I have has given years of service and does not really lift high enough for a Defender, great for family saloon.

Can anyone advise on reasonable priced but suitable stands and jacks?

Thanks

I have a Clarke 3 tonne trolley jack and axle stands from Machinemart but also use one of these this makes it easier and more stable to lift the Def.

I'm still using my old Sealey 2T jack, its given good service and Im not sure what I would replace it with, as for axle stands, I'm very happy with the Clarke ratchet stands I got from Machine Mart on their last VAT "free" event Thumbs Up

Oh yes! I had forgotten that I also have one of those beams, certainly makes life easier

That looks really good, I will investigate. Do you know how much approximately they are?

Thanks

I use these for axle stands, very impressed with the first pair I bought another for a full set in case I needed them.

Trolley jack, I don't have one myself but if I did get one I'd look at Sealey as well.
As mentioned above Clarke are also highly regarded too. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I have been looking at Clarkes Tools I see axel stands and had a look at jacks, Will all of those jacks on the Clarkes site be able to lift high enough?

I think the Sealey Cross Beam Adapter can be bought for about £55 when used with the trolley jack it gives you extra lift height as well.

I have a few sets of these Silverline axle stands:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-763620...dpSrc=srch

They are exactly the same (I have compared them next to each other) as the 'Sealey' ones above and also the 'Halfords Advanced' and 'Clarke Strong Arm' versions. They are quite obviously the same product sold by various retailers in different colours. A bargain at £17.46 a pair at the moment too, especially if you have Amazon Prime for free next day delivery.

I would recommend the Laser branded ratchet axle stands. They have a safety pin you can push through so no danger of the stand dropping if the ratchet isn’t fully engaged. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Machine Mart/Clarke brand? Sorry these days I am extremely dubious/careful with MM products. Had one of their trolley jacks, took it back as slowly went down under load. Replacement one the same. Went for a 10 tonne bottle jack and that was fine.

One of their generators? Little use and just i.e. less then 20 hours repair cost was 2/3 of cost of new genny!

I am very careful what I buy from MM these days.

Not seen the adaptor before but I think its a good idea and would make jacking the 110 and my series one's much safer. Thumbs Up 2010 XS USW

I bought x4 axle stands (6 tonne each) and a trolley jack with a high lift adaptor from SGS Engineering and I have no complaints. The Landy is raised 2" and the jack has no problem lifting it almost a foot.

Axle stands were £25 a pair. Jack was £50.

I was dubious about the cheapness and quality before I ordered but like I said, no complaints at all.

Was going to mention SGS - seems they have a bit of a sale on at present & a reasonable range of axle stands:
