I've got the L242 fitted to mine by a professional company and they did struggle to make it fit and still be able to open the doors as the cage pinched the body in when fitted. They got there in the end with a lot of fettling so I think your measure ( at least twice ) cut once philosophy will stand you in good stead. HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response

Did the L242 by myself in the driveway over 3.5 days.

Thon has it right regarding not trusting the templates and trying to assemble the unit on the vehicle before actually cutting the required holes, 'just to make sure' Laughing

Frustration level amounts to pretty much the satisfaction level for the install, but satisfaction level maintains itself over time, so yeah, pull that trigger! Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

So suggested idea is to mark everything out.
Build the cage
Offer up and check fitting before cutting

Get the front hoop assembled and fitted first, that only goes in one place and then work back from that. Use common sense and logical progression. Take your time and measure 3 times before cutting because once it's cut, it's cut. If you're not sure, stop have a cup of tea, have a think and then go back to it. Do not set a deadline to finish fitting it, it'll only make you rush, let it take as long as it takes.

It's all a question of the same process: offer-up, measure, mark, get paranoid, re-offer-up, measure, measure again, mark slightly differently, offer-up, re-measure, go back to original marks, get fed up, drill the f*cker anyway and hope for the best ....

Shouldnt be an isse re suspension my old 90 had a cage and drove fine with no ARBs and a small lift. The 110 has TF medium load springs + TF +2 big bore dampers (may change to OME +2s tho..) should be up to the job Smile


Im only in 3 days a week from the 12th and dont need my 110 daily so should be alright for time!

Looking at pics it doesnt look like you can assemble just the front hoop, looks like either the whole thing or nothing

this is my version of installation instructions.
trust me the manual is useless. well its done in a similar fashion of Mantec manusla. only photos no words....

front cage support :
-take the wing skin off, around ten bolts inside the engine bay
cut rectangle shape hole on the wing skin.
bolt bracket on firewall, refit wing skin. make sure the roll cage bracket stick out from the cut holes
job done

-middle suppot
cut rectangle shape hole
take the factory plate off (under B pillar.) cut it according to template
fit the support bracket.
job done

-rear support,
cut rectangle shape hole
install the support brackets. its two parts. bottom part bolts on the chassis, top part in the cabin and bolted onto the bottom part while the other end stick out the cut holes.
job done


so up till now, you have install all the support brackets and the next step is simply put the hoops, links onto these supports brackets....

Cage is arriving tomorrow, so thought I would made a start this evening!

Removed both wings in around 2hrs30. Surprisingly wasnt too difficult.

Offside off, pretty simple. Removed the extended arch, snorkel and rubber inner liner (aftermarket I think, with the arches). Gave me plenty of access to all of the bolts which to my surprise where not seized in anyway. Best part is the air intake hole made for excellent access to the bulkhead/wing bolts. These came off with a 14mm socket. The rest of the surrounding bolts where 11mm.





Nearside outer wing was a little more difficult to remove, took a little longer. Mainly due to the bulkhead/wing bolts which are 13.5mm heads? Shocked
13mm socket wouldnt fit, 14mm socket just span, 9/16th didnt fit either. Manged to get it off in the end by hammering a 13mm socket on Embarassed

First photo - connectors for rear washer (2 pole) and headlight levelling motor (3 pole).

Second photo - connector for alarm BBUS (if fitted).

Third photo - alarm sounder (not battery backed).

You seem to be missing the offside horn.

Ahh that makes sense as its a DCPU and thus no rear jets.

Horn is there just moved for security reasons. I dont appear to have a BBSU can one be retro fitted?
