So I have finally managed to get hold of the one type of Land Rover I have always wanted!
1984 V8 110 County in Massi Red Why do I want one? As mentioned elsewhere my parents had one (I remember it arriving when new and going when the new 200tdi Defender replaced it in 1990). They where only made for a very short period in Massi Red with the full capping son the doors (lift up handles, wind down windows) and as I had to have a V8 they are a rare beast. That’s the good, and now the bad - this one certainly has been used. I bought it from Cornwall where it was stripped of some retro-fitted diesel (yuk). It’s rough (understatement) but the critical bits are all there. Plan is a full rebuild over the next 24 months, galvanised chassis, V8, auto etc etc. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

That is a thing of beauty, which I'm sure you'll do amazing work with! I totally appreciate why they are so special, being the era of when my love affair with Defender began. My ultimate would be the same but in the brown and cream. I always imagine them with safari roof, but not sure why.
Good luck with the build I will be following with great interest and envy! Is that your forward control under the tin roof in the background?
Would love one of them, if I had room etc! |

Hi Jeremy,
Nice project, I would like a 1986 White V8 110 SW.... Why may you ask? Well in the winter of 1987 the only vehicle making head way now our village in the snow (other than than Tractor/JCB back hoe) was a V8 110 that sounded great even at the age of 6... That started my fascination/ obsession with LR's... Working towards Carry on camping! |

My mate had a V8 ‘86 in white about 15 years ago. Think it may have been ex-police. It was rough then and he hammered it for about 6 months. No photos or reg sadly

Although I'm a fan of the slidey-window One Ten, I'm glad you've at last found the Masai Red facelift vehicle you have been looking for.
And you are clearly not daunted by the work it needs! Will you be keeping us informed of progress on here? |

You are a brave man Jeremy, I'm looking forward to the pics & words of the "re-birth".
Would you consider an upgraded engine (a bit more power)? Pickles. |
