Webasto Problems

Hi

My thermo top C is no longer working, I hit the instant heat button on the timer, I hear the relay click and then the heater starts it's sequence. It then immediately (a couple of seconds) goes into the purge cycle

So far i've checked all the fuses and (having initially assumed a fuelling problem) tested the fuel pump and replaced the loom to the fuel pump but I now believe the heater is actually shutting off earlier in the sequence before it even attempts to pulse the pump

Anyone seen anything like this before?

They are similar to Eberspachers and mine will follow that sort of problem and 99% of the time it is fuel starvation, check the line from your tank to the pulse pump. on the Eber there is a gauze filter tucked away in the inlet side of the pump, this is usually the problem, just needs teasing out and blown through with an air line. Hope that helps

2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Tonga Green

I am having a similar problem - the webasto starts up, but at the time that I expect to hear the clicking / pulsing of the fuel pump, it goes into purge/shut down. Have been struggling to diagnose as it only happens when the temperature gets below -15C (i.e. when I really need it!)

I have considered the possibility of it being a filter issue, but I thought I would at least hear the 'click' of the pump, even if the filter is blocked. I am using winter diesel and am not having any problems with fuel supply to the engine.

Have come to the conclusion that the only way of getting a correct diagnosis is if I get the correct software and diagnostic cable. Am planning to take it to a local specialist, but also on ordering a cable off ebay for future use.

Yeah I've had fuel issues before and the pump has always started then the flameout occurs.

I notice if I start the heater when the engine is at temperature the heater will continue to circulate so the circulation pump definitely works as must the combustion air fan due to the noise. The exhaust doesn't appear to be blocked and I can feel airflow around it during the purge.

Saw something on a rover forum https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/archive/index.php/t-71982.html suggesting a glow pin or knackered pcb

Mine was playing up and there was no clicking of the fuel pump
I disconnected the fuel line as it leaves the pump and the pump then pulsed fine
Blew the line out with compressed air and problem resolved

Interesting, haven't checked the heater end of the line so will try that

Mine does this sometimes if the battery voltage is low. If I first start the engine (so alternator is working) or have the battery charger connected, no problem. Cheers, Vincent
