Fitting Croytec Anodized window blocks
I have been debating whether or not to get these for a while now and after washing the landy on Tuesday and found one of the window blocks to be corroded I decided to splash out the £115 (inc del) to get them.

One of the original window blocks is ok, where the other has started to corrode:

The black anodized window blocks from Croytec are solid and well machined with a lovely finish:

So the first thing to do was remove the old window block on the drivers side. This is held in place by three bolts accessed through the cab:

Once removed you have to carefully pull off the two gaskets from the original block:

Then it is just a case of refitting the new block and bolts, I also took the opportunity to coat the bolts in grease:

You then just repeat everything for the other side. All in it took about 20 mins to do and is not difficult. I think they look good in black as they match the black on the Landy.

Good idea Matt, I'm going to put a set of alloys in for blasting anyway so will get these done as well. Then get them all powder coated grey Mr. Green

Not in my opinion as they are a quality product which will outlast LR replacements. Each to their own IMHO Thumbs Up

I too think £115 is borderline expensive.

Interested to see what caused them to corrode - is the back of the one thats bad damaged? Mike

Jeeze, what a price for a part that does nothing and i thought Defenders had a 6 year corrosion warrantee? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I was considering these too, but the croytec website does not have a price listed for them, a reason for this i guess!

The originals are £12 a side, plus about £1 for the gasket, think i may buy the original ones and poweder coat them as the drivers side on my truck is shot.

I would pay upto £60 for them, shame as they look really good.
The door hinges are the same I guess, but well outside my pocket.

Well RD, I'm here to show that not all jocks are tightwads. Whistle Laughing And it's a pain in the arse to keep taking the landy in for minor niggles, especially when the sh**ty replacements will only last another 18 months. Also I was led to beleive that the corrosion warranty is for perferation, not surface rust Question

Mike, the paint started peeling from the top and from under the gasket at the top of the block. You can see what I mean in the 5th picture as it shows the paint blistering with a small amount of rust on the inside Thumbs Up

Next thing will be 4x door hinges from Croytec finished anodized black to match everything else Mr. Green

Red Dot, you can find the warranty particulars on LR's own site. It explains the difference between the 3 & 6 year paint & anti corrosion warranties!

These hinges eventually corrode on all Defenders and no manner of scraping back, treating and respraying with powder coat or otherwise will sort the issue out. I am pretty frugal with my dosh Whistle but to pay £115 to get the problem resolved for good if they are looked after is a blessing Thumbs Up I suppose it depends on how long you are going to keep the vehicle.

I was going to get a pair in silver BUT the colour doesn't quite match and the black ones do look good matching the other black items - good idea Lorryman Thumbs Up Have you got any pics of your Landy which show it in full - couldn't find any.....looks nice.
