Not sure if this has been distributed, LR's Special Vehicle Department's take on the Disco. I quite like it:

Some orange paint.... and?????? Oh yeah, a odd rear end.
I know which SVX I prefer. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I think the colouring and oversized wheels shrink the butt quite a bit, IMO. That's why I like it, because I'm not a fan of the basic version. Monsieur Le Grenadier

It's not just the size of the BUTT but that fact that it looks like its had a minor stroke.
I get why the numberplate is off centre, heritage of design yada yada blah blah. But it is not off centre in a big enough way to make it look right. If the left hand edge had been in the same place but with a square rather than rectangular plate I think it may have been more appealing. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. I really like this. As much as I like the Defender and the V8 Works, if I had the money (and I can only dream) this is what I'd get. How much are they going to be??
Adding the winch to the rear is quite an extreme to improve the back end look. But I think it does look better. You can always get a Startech boot. Is that real? Can't be bothered to look it up, feeling inherently idle today. If it is, they should sell like hot cakes, but being startech, no doubt you'll be paying the cost of a D4 to get the retrofit done.... "yada yada blah blah" is that a Star Wars language? ...but with a square rather than rectangular plate...No doubt UK Gov/Police Regs are pushing for linear easy-to-read VPR style plates and JLR were dictated by that. So you spend £70K plus say for that and they already look to me changing the rear... and probably a few other tweeks.
I don't understand the back... so I fixed it in paintshop Click image to enlarge Inside and what is will do is great but I still don't think it looks as upmarket as the old one. |

€680,00 The boot doesn't offend me and it wouldn't stop me owning one. Yes it is a little unconventional but equally, at least it stops it from looking like everything else in the range. |

In terms of having linear plates for ANPR cameras etc I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it makes no difference (the ladder on the defender at some angles does) but the square plate is picked up and read fine by the ones I have installed. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. I must admit it's growing on me too. I saw a lovely Black, top spec on the other day which looked pretty good. I can't believe the centralised number plate by Startech would only be £700, it's what the press were saying but seems very reasonable! I assume the replacement is just the centre panel for £700. Then add labour, colour coding etc. Perhaps they keep the original piece? No idea. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I loved my Disco 4 and when the 5 came out, I wasn't overly impressed; however, it has grown on me and now I quite like it. Personally, I think the SVX looks superb and really like where they have taken the concept.
With respect to the Startech price, that was taken directly from their GMBH web site. |
