Yep, remove the cat, and if you want a louder exhaust noise, cut out the centre silencer box and replace with a straight pipe --

My local exhaust practitioner is a coward, is the cat conv a combination with DPF? If yes he refuses to remove

No DPF on a 2.4 just the Cat.
I’m running a straight through system on my 2.4 just with the standard rear silencer in place, still not that noisy but does sound nice under load. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Then in 9 months time, change it back to standard because you keep getting a headache from the droning....
My Td5 was like this... went back to standard and got no reduction in performance. |

Mines ok on a run, you only notice the exhaust note if you have the passenger window down,
Been like that for nearly 4 years now. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

My Td5 gets on my nerves every few months. I put the silencer back in, am amazed how quiet it is, get bored after a few weeks, then put straight through back on. Then repeat 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I got my centre box pipe from rovacraft, it fitted ok but was a little too long. My thinking it was a generic TD5 one about $90 at the time! However the stainless decat pipe kit came from Alive and was excellent in every way. In addition with the 175hp remap and ultimate intercooler plus silicon pipes. The cat as said for a better sound has too go, this is also a great benefit for heat mitigation with other mods!

A couple of post suggest that the cat converter can have the guts bashed out so it is straight through then the centre muffler can be simply replaced with a straight pipe, apparently this modification is pretty cheap and the centre muffler can simply be refitted when or if required

I've removed the cat pipe, all I can see in there is what looks like insect screen. Where is the white substance that one just "bashes out" as discussed on another forum.
Have I been snowed |
