My may 2010 Utility 110 with 7,600 miles is fine, only gasket between turbo and manifold replaced under warranty,
My march 2011 90 X-Tech is fine so far, only done 460 miles though. They are sacks of crap but we all love them, warts and all. Andy. www.ajstyres.co.uk 01737 241370 Junction 8 M25 Surrey. |

120.000 km on the road and still counting.
Several fails during this time: I have a boring list of almost 80 failures: one of them (clutch) leave me in the middle of the road and some of them was caused by the dealers. Cheers! 100 000km. Just the clutch really, and then a few small bits and pieces. Running like a dream. www.ralton.co.za

one question, if the engine is ford, where is the transmission and clutch and other major components from? are they are also transit engine bits? if so, could a decent ford mechanic repair most issues on a puma or do they need to go to a LR stealer?

The gearbox the MT82, which I think is a Ford box. Transfer box is still the good old LT230, which is Land Rover (well Leyland Transmissions actually... but it's come on a bit since then!)
No idea re. the clutch etc. To be fair it's probably just easier to go to a LR dealer? |

Trouble is with not going to LR is occasionally there is LR specific tools needed for certain jobs which Ford don't have. I was considering going to Ford to have my rear diff pinion seal re-paired there. But they said I should go to a LR dealer as they have the tool to do the job with. I went to a LR indy in the end and job done. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Good news is that the MT82 gearbox is not made in China (as with the Mustangs) but by Getrag in Germany Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Isnt it likely that a mechanic who mends transit vans for a living might be as qualified and cheaper than a LR mechanic? Im looking at my options for finding independant mechanics rather than using main dealers. Just thought i might be able to get better service from a smaller business that doesnt have too many millionaires wandering in -- like we have at the LR dealers in Gibraltar. |

Not sure what's happening now, but 6 months back I wanted finally to allay my fears and paranoia about my "iffy" gearbox. So I approached LR Germany directly and actually got a guy who gave me some straight answers. Although Ford/Getrag do have dealings with the Chinese, our gearboxes (and the rest) are made in England/Germany
I feel sorry for the Mustang owners with their Chinese MT82 sh*t... http://jalopnik.com/5792482/faulty-chinese...rd-mustang Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

TATA must be idiots if they think anyone will continue to buy LR if they are made in china... |
