Ruddy awful.
Let's hope this is as accurate as such drawings of new cars normally are and it never sees the light of day. She's not old...just older |

Well,
I think the news are not quite bad. They are design a workhorse based in a own platform suited for an utility car instead to adapt one of the existent platforms (Leisure or Luxury ones as the article said). I hope that they can keep the spirit and the off-road/utility quality of the Defender Regarding the drawing, I suposse that came from the newspaper and not from JLR. Another ugly concept. The D3/4 is ugly as sin, I suppose maybe they are choosing that as a "styling feature".
I get the impression that I will end up trying to buy one of the last "proper" Defenders. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Wow... that is not only ugly, but bland. Utterly forgettable. That is one of the worst sins you can commit if you're replacing an iconic design such as the Defender, to make it forgettable.
It looks like a cross between a Yeti and a Volvo. Hope that it is just their take on what they think LR's design will look like, rather than something official from LR. |

Looks like a melted Shogun.
Let's hope it gets the green light - because if it does, our Defenders will appreciate nicely Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

I wouldnt take too much notice of the picture as it a mock up by autocar. Don't think we will know much till 2013 and that is said to be only the concept. Don't think it matters what happens look at the value of series ones even my 200 tdi is worth money.
The other thing is maybe they will design one that can be put together without massive gaps. Also fit parts that aren't rusty within the first year. Mines just come back with new mud flaps and headlight besels. The only thing that worries me that the driving postion will be like a hilux or L200! I can only drive upright! |

I have faith that they will pull a BETTER defender out of the bag in 2014...you cant really tell by that picture anything, they have been working already for 3-4yrs on it and are now stepping it up. Mike

indians will try to make the defender like car.
they can't understand that defender is the worst car but it is just a defender........ the key issue of the article is this ''The company believes it can no longer have a tiny share of the utility market that it partly defined, even though it will be hard to re-establish Land Rover in Africa and Australia, where Toyota’s Land Cruiser is the benchmark off-roader.'' we love LAND ROVER and this picture is GAY ROVER www.newfoundland.gr |

Hopefully they mean they will try harder to crack these markets. I think most will agree the fl2 d4 and rangie are best in there classes. Now the evoque is on it's way it will be the car of 2011. I really think they could produce the best utility 4x4 ever that sells worldwide.
Hopefully made in Britain. |

Hear hear! I love that driving position when in the Defender. Once you get used to it it keeps you alert and I think it's probably better for your back in the long term. My Caterham 7 is the complete opposite, but the upright position in the Defender is one of those things I don't need changed. |
