I removed my fan about 3 years ago, maybe longer and have never had a problem, even towing my parents 110 on a tri axle transporter Much less risky than actually blocking the radiator as there is still air moment 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Before removing the fan try to stop if with idling engine - with proper working viscous clutch in the fan, it is possible with one finger. ... I recommend use someone others finger for first test. Or a piece of cardboard. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

My TD5's always taken around 5 miles to warm up and the temperature drops rapidly at tickover. It's the 'norm' with that engine.
Maybe that's why the XS model has a heated screen and seats..... |

On my puma the fan engages so infrequently and is so loud when it does the first few times it happened (before I’d understood what it was)I thought I’d broken something! 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

Before I put in an electric fan had to replace viscous fan. My vehicle definitely heated up when viscous fan failed. I replaced the 2.5 N/A with a 300tdi and went for electric, as it came with the Turner Kit. If its winter that's causing the cool down a rad muff is the answer, plus a hotter thermostat.

Yes I fully agree with low range.
When I had my 109 v8 I used the same solution. here we recommend electric fans to avoid overheating. Viscous fans seem to pack up when it is over 50º in the sun Fixing Land Rovers in rural Guanacaste |

Remove fan??? What??? How???
Not here in Kenya... a dead fan cost me a new head... With OEM borg Warner viscous I now barely get above 73C on normal running, can barely get it to high 90C on hard runs. Monitor temps and other readings via MDMAN EMS. |

I go off-road and even with a good working visc. fan I managed to get it in the red zone a few times. With full throttle spinning 35"Simexes the heat builds up. Roel
