Webasto
My Webasto Thermatop E has stopped working - again
The pump is not clicking
If I connect a 12v source to the pump directly it will pulse once - a new pulse each time a connection is made
Is the 12v supply from the webasto controller a constant supply or is it a pulse supply ?

As the pump is not working , but will pulse if connected directly - is the main controller broken ?
or is there a very simple cheap fix Rolling with laughter

It's called a dosing pump, each pulse delivers a certain amount of fuel and the Webasto decides how much it needs. So 1 pulse per application sounds right. Just need to see if it is actually delivering fuel. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

It does not pulse when turned on, only if connected to a external supply
So either the wire is broken or the controller is not sending any pulses of power to the pump
Are there any other causes for no power to the pump

Yeah you're right, it is likely to be a wiring fault or controller fault. Have you tried removing power from the Webasto for a couple of minutes in case it's locked out due to flame failure? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

So Today I managed to get the Webasto to fire up twice
Pimp pulsing fine - Hot exhaust smoke being produced
Then after a minute it shuts down - no pumping, no fire
Just expels exhaust for a further 30 seconds and turns off

Flame failure detected most likely. I think it uses the glow plug as a flame detector once it's ignited. It could be that the glow plug is on the way out. Needs plugging into a webasto diagnostic tool really Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Not that I know of, I think D44 are registered installers though so should have the diagnostic kit Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Is it worth phoning a local commercial HGV repair company? They could put you in touch with an expert on "night heaters"

Sounds just like the one in the wagon at work, I had it all to bits and give it a good clean out and it’s never missed a beat since. NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER

Had similar issue with the one in our motorhome when in Bavaria a couple of winters ago, went to local Bosch centre they cleaned inside and quick service. Runs better now than when fitted new by English dealer. The Germans reckoned the burner was not set up right when fitted and it had sooted up.

Thanks for all the replies
I did nothing to it today and it started fine and I left it running for an hour with no issues ????

I will get it serviced and cleaned - a local motor home centre is just about to become an agent - but they will have no experience

Just because it's a new agency doesn't necessarily mean that the fitter hasn't got a wealth of prior experience Thumbs Up
