Bpman,
For me the question now is whether I upgrade to an 8, or to an X, in either case a 64Gb which is plenty for my needs. With extension of my Swisscom subscription and after deducting the amount Swisscom will still pay me to buy back my 2 year old 6, the 8 would cost me almost nothing, the X just a few hundred CHF. I have read that the processor, etc. of the 8 are very similar fast as the X, and I would like to keep the famous touch button with the fingerprint login. Not sure yet about that new face recognition gimmick of the X. Probably decision time will be monday.... Eric You never actually own a Defender. Steve, thanks comparison. It must be me, but those big size phones like the 8+ always make me think of The Flintstones.
A phone for me has to easily fit in my pocket, so the 8+ is out, and I will wait with that face recognition thingy until the next generation. So intend to order tomorrow a regular 8. Cost is negligible too. Traditionalist user where it comes to IT stuff, (you could have guessed that I think ), and I still like the fingerprint thingy. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Your call, mrs BP has the 8+ and loves the screen
X is the future, children love trying to crack the face recognition... photos don’t work! |

FWIW, my old HTC One had face recognition unlock about 5 years ago... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

So after saying i wouldn't bother with an X I ended up being given one by a client. I think the screen is a big improvement over my 7 but found the facial recognition a bit rubbish. Definitely prefer touch id. Much quicker and less of a faff. That apart it probably is a step up but it's wasted on me so I've given it to someone who will appreciate it.

Mrs P opened her X this morning
Still backing up her 6+ since 11am Shall put her feedback up when she reports back to me I must admit, it feels lovely in the hand Not £1,150 worth though G My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years. |

So did you buy the 8, Eric? Last week my iPhone 6 had a hardware failure, and as repair was to expensive I had to make the same decision: 7, 8 or X? I bought the 8 (not plus) because of the same reasons: easily fits in the pocket - it even fits again in my expensive leather case for the 6 I imported from Austrailia 3 years ago (a really usefull very nice wallet case), I like the fingerprint recognition over face recognition, and processor speed and other capabilities are the same as the X - but cost of the 8 is approx. € 300 cheaper here. Hi Vincent, yes I bought the 8 like you. With my Swisscom 2 year plan extension, the price here for the 8 with 64Gb came to less than 100 chf, and then Swisscom still paid me 190 chf to buy back my old 6. So the 8 cost me less than nothing. I also bought a Zens wireless charger for 40 chf, and I paid our local Swisscom shop a small fee to do the entire transfer from the 6 to the 8. Net-net, I think I paid 25 chf or so.
