If you keep the same wattage then the current load through the switch will be the same. Thumbs Up

The switch will melt in it's own sweet time anyway. Whistle Laughing Wink Thank land rover for that.

Laughing Plenty of switches have failed with standard wattage headlights (mine included before I went LED.)

But a good standard wattage lamp is the PHILLIPS 130% Extreme vision. I have them in my motorbike and they're excellent and have lasted well so far Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Yes well worth replacing the loom as a permanent solution.
In fact it’s my job for today as my switch started playing up last week.
I did fit some unrated bulbs last month so these might have pushed it over the edge. Defender Td5 Commercial 2002

just replace the headlamp loom with one of the relayed ones that take a feed direct from the battery. It'll probably be as good as the uprated bulbs on the standard set up and you wont melt the switch.

Added to that crystal headlamps also deliver a better yield. And they are almost indestructable - the headlights, blinker and the BBUS were the only thing that remained whole when a drugged and drunken twit slammed into the left wing of our 110. Literally all other parts of the wing had to be replaced.

Remove each tail/side lamp by undoing the 2 screws that hold them to the body, then unplug the wiring. Be careful not to let the plug disappear into the bodywork!
Try removing each bulb and cleaning the bulb holders and bulb contacts with WD40 and wet and dry paper.
While you have the lamps out clean each plug contact as well.
While you're at it you might as well do the indicators too.
Sometimes the bulbs are corroded and very difficult to remove without breaking, so it's as well to have spares before you start.
Doing the above is a good starting point and often solves the problem.
