To post a photo, first create a photo gallery then put the photo from the gallery in the post. These threads show you how:-

If you could post some photos of your canopy I would be very interested to see it.

Ah, so I have created a gallery and posted some pics of my 1969 series 11a cut and shut roof that is now on the back of my Puma. It is sealed for dust, (pretty well too) and has the rear wheel now on the back. It also has a plug outlet for charging bits and also an interior light. The roof came with the tropical roof so I left it on. Best of all the back is LOCKABLE! Very Happy

I like what you have done, do you have photos half way through the process and or a description on how you did it,

Thanks
David

David,
I purchased the top from a bloke who was wrecking a series 11a. I paid $300.00 AUS for it which he was delighted. I probably could have got one for nothing, if I looked hard enough, but it was in straight order and had the tropical roof on it so I bought it. We cut through the window section (see new pics), had a complete glass front fitted, new glass in the sides. We used the old rubbers but reversed them (inside out) as the outsides were a bit perished. We also fitted some gas struts to the door, rather than use the old lift system and also changed the lock mechanism. It sits on a bit of foam rubber bolted onto the ute back. Of course, the back door ligned up perfectly, as this has not been altered for the 40 years Shocked
We then sprayed it the same as the ute - perhaps in hindsight I would have painted it a darker charcoal to have made it stand out as a seperate entity. From the back (and also sometimes from the side) people think it is a wagon! Rolling with laughter
All up it cost $1,950.00 Aus - but to have a fibreglass one made was going to be $3,500.00.

been looking at series tops for a while but the ones with a tailgate are very desirable and make big bucks

i started down the route of making a doublecab top out of a series roof, but went a different route in the end...

However, I do have a shortened roof (ie i got as far as cutting it to about the right length), a pair of series side panels (uncut, but with a line drawn on them) and a couple of liftup tail gates (known as catflaps) of which I was going to make one good one.

These are now spare, so if someone wanted to pick up the project they are available.

Just a thought,

Makes me feel better now knowing what I paid for mine. You do see a fair few of these parked in paddocks or backyards rotting away. some might be pleased if you took the complete vehicle away. My top was in very good order (and it had the side windows for what it's worth). There are a few scratches on the lift up section - but it is a Landrover, so who cares!
I did have to plug a couple of small holes around the top of the tailgate onto where it meets the canopy. some small bits of foam rubber stuffed in and painted over and it looks a good neat fit. I am surprised how well it keeps out the red dust when travelling in the red center (of OZ).If I get time I'll post some gallery pics of a bit of travels with the camper trailer.

Nice offer I'm going to try locally first, I would like to try make one with the old backs as I think they look nice and slightly different. I will get back to you Mark regarding your project.

Thanks
David
