also in West Mids have used the defender for the past 4 days with the standard 22k Continentals which performed well with no dramas. Was out early on Saturday with fresh snow and again in the evening with polished snow. Performed AOK in both circumstances although provoking a slide was easy if required and any heavy braking would bring in the ABS. In the same circumstances I could not even get the BM off the drive!! DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Another vote for the continental cross contact at 👍🏻 NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER

Interesting question this. I’m running a mix of Conti and Gen Grabber I think (haven’t looked, can’t remember) and was thinking of getting 5 new bits of rubber in the spring when I have some money...
like the OP I’m road biased in usage with the occasional rough track, grassy field or bit of mud. From what I’ve read here and elsewhere, Michelin Latitudes are good on road tyres and pretty much everyone raves about BFG KO2s. Been done to death on the Wheels & Tyres sub forum I think. |

I had a similar issue regarding General Grabbers AT's... *cough* Although I still put it down to driver error, if you're blaming the GG AT's then I'll jump on that bandwagon!!

I do find the Grabbers don't give as much traction (both off road and on snow), compared to friends that run other tyres. I'm looking at a set of BFGoodrich All Terrain A/T KO2's next. Also going up to 265/75, currently on 235/85. Here's hoping the extra 30mm width adds a bit more traction.  Chris

Going from grabbers to Contis there was a noticeable improvement in tyre grip, have far more confidence although there have been a few times this weather has caught me out and have slid around corners
*edit* The contis do have one down side, I’m forever picking out stones from the tread to stop them clicking down the road... |

I've had grabber at2's for I think 6 years now.
Drove up the farm track yesterday which was sheet ice and had just started to thaw, like lubricated ice. Nobody else could make it up but the defender just chugged up without missing a beat  |

I am pretty much in agreement here ^^^^ Although 1.5 i would add as Grabber AT The grabber TRs are useless in my experience, the conti is a far better performing tyre in mud, snow, grass and tarmac conditions from my experience. My Defender coped very well with the snow, slush and ice last week! Another thumbs up Continental Cross Contacts!
