Most of us only have one set of tyres, so a pole is rather pointless.

Now that was a tyre to be reckoned with! I wonder how many people on this forum even remember the good old SAT.

Depends how deep the snow is, you want to float over deep snow with 315 or wider of any pattern, on normal roads 235 85 16 KO2 to bite into the surface. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

Had a few interesting experiences in a 90 fitted with 750 XCL's in the snow, ice was much more exciting (for all the wrong reasons!) 2010 XS USW

+1 for Firestone SATβs. I remember having a set on my old ex-mod 110 V8 and taking it out for some aggressive snow driving late one night (caveat: I was young and stupid back then, now I am only stupid). No matter what I did it just gripped and would hardly slide even when doing sharp 90 degree turns.
I still pine for 750 SATβs What wrong with V8 and crossplies anyway Fixing Land Rovers for over 25 years..........and making excuses to the wife for almost as long 1984 110 V8 - Gone, but not forgotten.... |

Still have a set of those on my S1 86", an epic tyre provided that you understand it, one of my all-time favourites! |

@johnszs, it's certainly been quite interesting the last couple of days round us. I've got 265/75 KM2's on mine, the fronts are getting past their sell by date but driving the lanes they've been pretty faultless especially in the fresh snow, I haven't actually seen or been on a gritted road yet just where some bloke has been levelling the middles of the tracks out on the lanes. The Moreton lane bank and the bank down to Burghill has been very little problem allthough it might be a different story in the morning after the forecast of minus figures in their teens

Tyres are useless, what you want is a bare inner tube, not too big or your backside drops through it and gets wet.....
