I'm no chemist (in heating/plumbing) but we were told many years ago that the white PTFE plumbing tape we use was a big no-no. Then we were told it is used in the non-stick coatings of cookware. Don't know if any of that still applies today. When I used to do plumbing at school (from 14) we used to beat lead sheeting. Being a teenage boy in the roughest school in Reading, we never washed our hands when we then went for lunch...with black hands. I remember the bread going black where we touched it. So for at least three years I was eating lead. Mrs Puddle says it explains a lot. Starting work at British Gas in 1975 I also breathed in a fair amount of asbestos. I've made it to 58 and a half. Now left.

Idiots who think it’s a good idea to produce a car that makes a verbal announcement advising me to exercise caution and moderate my speed 10mph after I’ve been stationary in gridlocked traffic for over half an hour

Slideywindows:
I hear you about the BBC. They MUST be stripped of their revenue scheme. Let them raise their own money, then they might not be so politically bent to the left. Now left. |

Can't yet quite grasp what that crazy woman has signed us up to - just so that we can let Germans sell us stuff! I need to read it in full when time allows, and see what JR Mogg says about it - he knows more about politics than I do (but I know more about physics than he does). The one saving grace, no matter what she has signed us up to, is that I think it will all collapse in the next 15 years anyway, and we can finally look toward a sustainable population growth...zero, hopefully. Now left.

lucky you puddle !There is no safe level of exposure to blue asbestos ...its not fully understood as its how your body reacts to the fibres but someone with your level of exposure and the same age as you would have gone to the drs with pain and shortness ob breath and wiould be dead within 2 years ..steve mqueen was exposed for a few months during his time in the navy its a lottery ..may your luck continue !sometimes you have just to get on with life ..when i was younger we used sheep dip and sprays for the crops without any protection i can still smell it now !especially since i know know some of the sprays were a few chemical chains away from being vx gas..the deadliest substance on earth apart from a womans scorn. |
